A very large group of Sardinian shepherds and rural people, artisans, fishermen and sailors perform the Odyssey following the method of guided improvisation, to build together a bittersweet, modern and universal epic tale.
In modernday Sardinia, two poet performers compete in a poetic contest in Logudorese Sardinian. The story is that of Odysseus. The Sardinian people, through their relationship with places, with their language/s and their way of thinking and acting, will reshape the Odyssey as a timeless tale. Kings and divinities, princesses and castaways are told through the filter of this culture, in a continuous time jump between a present and a mythical and ironic past, in a timeless location. The story mixes characters from the myth, contemporary witnesses strangely informed of the facts, improvisational poets. All of them, at some point, in turn become the characters of the Odyssey.
